Publishing Your Own Dashboard Templates

Overview

Improvado ships a catalog of ready-made dashboard templates. You can add your own: build a dashboard once — the layout, the widgets, the filters, the branding — and publish it as a template the rest of your team starts from. Copies stay connected to it, so when you publish a new version, everyone who built from it can pull your changes in.

Publish a Dashboard as a Template

Open the dashboard, click the ⋯ menu in the header and choose Save as template.

Give the template a name. This is what your team sees in the catalog, so name it for the job it does — "Monthly Client Report", not "Dashboard copy 3".

Choose who it is available to:

This workspace — only people working in this workspace see it.
Organization — everyone across every workspace in your organization. Publishing organization-wide requires an admin who can manage users.

Read the summary and click Publish template.

Note

Publishing turns the dashboard into the template. The dashboard leaves your dashboards list and becomes the place the template is edited from — this cannot be undone, and anyone the dashboard was shared with loses it from their list. The dialog tells you exactly how many people that is before you confirm. If you want to keep a working dashboard for yourself, duplicate it first and publish the copy.

Start From a Template

Your templates appear in two places, alongside the ones Improvado ships:

On the Dashboards page, open the dropdown next to Create — your workspace's templates are listed there.
In the Templates catalog, where you can search and filter the full set.

Open a template to preview it, then click Copy from a template. The copy opens straight away and is yours to edit — changing it never affects the template or anyone else's copy.

Find the Right Template

The catalog lists both families together, with columns for who a template is available to, who created it, and when it was last updated. Three filters narrow the list:

Owner — templates Improvado maintains, or the ones your team published.
Visibility — available to this workspace, or to the whole organization.
Tables — whether the data a template reads exists in your workspace.

A template that needs data you do not have yet is marked with a warning icon; hover it to see which tables are missing. You can still copy it — the widgets will simply come up empty until that data lands.

Update a Template

Find the template in the catalog and click the pencil icon. That opens it in the ordinary dashboard editor, with everything you are used to — widgets, filters, appearance, multiple pages.

Your edits are private until you publish them. When the template is ready, open the ⋯ menu and choose Publish new version. Only then does the change become available to the people who copied it.

Publishing a version that changed nothing is a no-op, so you can save as often as you like without telling everyone an update is waiting.

Pull Updates Into a Copy

When a template you copied from has a newer version, its ⋯ menu offers Sync with template. Syncing merges the template's changes into your dashboard while keeping your own edits — new widgets from the template arrive, and the ones you added or adjusted stay as they are.

If you would rather start clean, Reset to template replaces the widgets, layout and filters with the template's current version and discards your changes. Your dashboard name, appearance, data source and any pages you added yourself are kept. Both actions tell you what will happen before you confirm.

Change Who a Template Is For

In the catalog, the Available to column is a dropdown — switch a template between This workspace and Organization without republishing it. Making a template organization-wide requires an admin who can manage users; narrowing it back to a single workspace does not.

Ask the AI Agent

The AI Agent knows the catalog too. Ask it what templates are available, what a particular one contains, or have it build a dashboard from one for you — no need to leave the chat.
