Learn how to assign account owners to enable MDG Dashboard filtering and improve access governance.
The Account Owners feature provides filtering capabilities for the Data Governance dashboard. You can assign ownership of monitoring accounts to specific users from Settings, enabling filtered views of violations and compliance metrics.

The MDG feature has two separate ownership concepts that serve different purposes.
When you are assigned as an Account Owner, you can filter the dashboard to see only the accounts you own. This determines what data is visible to you in the Data Governance dashboard.
Rule Owners control email notifications. Rule owners are assigned to individual rules and determine who receives email digests when rule violations occur. This is configured separately from account ownership.
The key distinction is that Account Owners affect what you can see, while Rule Owners affect what emails you receive. Being assigned as an account owner does not mean you will receive email notifications—for that, you must be assigned as a rule owner on the relevant rules.
The Account Owner filter allows you to:

Once assigned, the account owner can filter the MDG Dashboard to view only their accounts and associated data.
You can assign multiple owner emails to a single account. Different agencies or workspaces can also have different owners for the same account, allowing flexible ownership structures across your organization.

To receive email notifications for rule violations, ensure you are assigned as a Rule Owner on the relevant rules—account ownership alone does not enable email notifications. If you need access to accounts not currently assigned to you, contact your system administrator.
