Description

Kiteworks is a secure file transfer and Managed File Transfer platform — a Private Content Network that lets organizations exchange sensitive files with external partners. Kiteworks is self-hosted, so every customer runs their own appliance on their own hostname.

Setup guide

Follow this setup guide to connect Kiteworks to Improvado.

Click the Connections in the left navigation bar.
Categories on the Data sources page group all available platforms. Use a search to find the required one.

Click on the Kiteworks tile.

Ask your Kiteworks administrator to create a custom application for Improvado on your appliance: in the Kiteworks Admin console, go to Application Setup > Apps and Plugins > API and click Create Custom Application. See the official Kiteworks guide for details. Configure the application as follows:

Flow — select Authorization Code.
Enable refresh token — turn it on and set the refresh token lifetime as long as your policy allows. When the refresh token expires, the connection has to be authorized again.
Redirect URI — the URL for your Improvado account region, listed below.
API scopes — allow reading folders, files, and user details.

Use the Redirect URI that matches your Improvado account region. Enter it exactly, including https:// and the trailing slash:

Default — https://connections.improvado.io/stat_provider_client/oauth_redirect/kiteworks/
EU — https://connections.eu.improvado.io/stat_provider_client/oauth_redirect/kiteworks/
US — https://connections.us.improvado.io/stat_provider_client/oauth_redirect/kiteworks/

After you save the application, copy its Client Application ID and Client Secret Key.

Note

The Kiteworks API is available on the Enterprise package with the Developer Suite add-on. Your administrator can check it in Application Setup > Licenses: the API row must show Enabled.
Kiteworks displays the Client Secret Key only once, when the application is created. Copy it before closing the page.

Back in Improvado, fill in the connection form:

Kiteworks Hostname — your appliance hostname, for example acme.kiteworks.com. Do not include https:// or a trailing slash.
Client Application ID — the Client Application ID of the application from Step 3.
Client Secret Key — the Client Secret Key of the same application.

Click Authorize. You will be redirected to your Kiteworks appliance: sign in as the Kiteworks user whose folders you want to extract and approve access. You will be redirected back to Improvado automatically. The connection sees only the folders and files this user can access.

After the connection process is completed successfully, the Kiteworks connection will appear in your Connected sources list.

When the connection status is Active, and the account status column shows a number of accounts, you can move on to data extraction.

To extract data from the connected source, follow the instructions on how to set up data extraction.
