Kiteworks

Description

Kiteworks is a secure file transfer and Managed File Transfer platform — a Private Content Network that lets organizations exchange sensitive files with external partners. Kiteworks is self-hosted, so every customer runs their own appliance on their own hostname.

Improvado connects to your Kiteworks appliance through the Kiteworks REST API and lists the files partners drop into your shared top-level folders, so file metadata — names, sizes, MIME types, timestamps, antivirus and DLP status, and content fingerprints — can land in your data warehouse alongside your ad spend, CRM, and web analytics data.

Setup guide

Follow this setup guide to connect Kiteworks to Improvado.

Click the Connections in the left navigation bar. Categories on the Data sources page group all available platforms. Use a search to find Kiteworks.

Click on the Kiteworks tile.

In your Kiteworks appliance, create a custom API application. Go to Admin > Application Setup > Apps and Plugins > API and create an application to obtain the Client Application ID and Client Secret Key. See the official Kiteworks API documentation for details.

Note

  • Kiteworks displays the Client Secret Key only once, at the moment the application is created. Copy it before closing the page.

Back in Improvado, fill in the connection form:

  • Kiteworks Hostname — your appliance hostname, for example acme.kiteworks.com. Do not include https:// or a trailing slash.
  • Client Application ID — the Client Application ID of the custom application you created in Step 3.
  • Client Secret Key — the Client Secret Key of the same application.
  • Username — the Kiteworks user or service account (usually an email address) the connection should run as.
  • Password — that Kiteworks account's password.

Note

  • The remaining fields — Authorization Host, API Scope, and API Version — are optional. Leave them blank unless your appliance requires them; the defaults cover the folder, file, and user access this connector needs. We recommend using a dedicated Kiteworks service account for Improvado.

Click Connect. After the connection completes successfully, the Kiteworks connection appears in your Connected sources list.

When the connection status is Active, and the account status column shows a number of accounts, you can move on to data extraction.

To extract data from the connected source, follow the instructions on how to set up data extraction.
