Google Forms

Updated on Jul 9, 2026

Description

Google Forms is a survey and form-building tool that lets you collect responses through custom online forms. Improvado connects to Google Forms and extracts your forms, their structure (titles, settings, and questions), and the responses submitted to them into your data warehouse alongside the rest of your marketing and analytics stack. Each Google Form is treated as a separate account, so you can choose exactly which forms to extract.

How to set up Google Forms

Follow this setup guide to connect Google Forms to Improvado.

Click the Make a new connection button on the Connections page and select Google Forms in the Data sources catalog.

Click on the Google Forms tile.

Choose an authorization option:

OAuth (recommended)

Before authorizing, make sure you are signed in to the Google account that owns the forms you want to extract data from.

On the Google Forms tile, select the OAuth authentication option and click Authorize. You will be redirected to Google to sign in.

Review the requested read-only permissions for your Forms and Drive form metadata and click Allow. You will be redirected back to Improvado automatically.

OAuth (Bring Your Own App)

Use this option if you want to connect with your own Google Cloud OAuth credentials — for example, to run the connection against your own API quota and consent screen. You register a Web application OAuth client in Google Cloud Console and provide its Client ID and Client Secret.

In the Google Cloud Console, create or select a project.

Enable the Google Forms API and the Google Drive API for the project under APIs & Services > Library.

Configure the OAuth consent screen, then create an OAuth client ID of type Web application.

Under Authorized redirect URIs, add exactly this URL:
https://connections.improvado.io/stat_provider_client/oauth_redirect/google_forms/

Copy the generated Client ID and Client Secret.

Back in Improvado, on the Google Forms tile, select the OAuth (Bring Your Own App) authentication option, paste your Client ID and Client Secret, and click Authorize. Sign in to Google and click Allow.

After the connection process is completed successfully, the Google Forms connection will appear in your Connected sources list.

When the connection status is Active, and the account status column shows a number of forms, you can move on to data extraction. Each Google Form is listed as a separate account, so you can select exactly which forms to extract.

To extract data from the connected sources, check the instructions on how to set up data extraction.

Note

  • Improvado requests read-only access only. It can read your forms, their structure, and their responses, but it never edits or deletes anything in Google Forms.
  • Google Forms has no native list-forms endpoint, so Improvado discovers your forms through Google Drive. This is why the connection also requests read-only access to your Drive form metadata.
