Setup guide

Follow our setup guide to connect Spotify Ads to Improvado.

Step 1. Click the Make a new Connection on the Connections page.
Categories on the Data sources page group all available platforms. Use a search to find the required one.

Step 2. Click on the Spotify Ads tile.

Step 3. Choose an authorization option. Improvado supports two ways to connect Spotify Ads — pick the one that fits your situation.

Use this if you don't need to manage your own Spotify Developer app. Improvado handles everything; you just click Authorize.

Step 3.1. Select OAuth in the authentication dropdown.

Step 3.2. Click Authorize.

Step 3.3. You'll be redirected to Spotify. Sign in with the Spotify account that has access to your Ad Account, and approve the connection.

{%docs-accordion title="OAuth (Bring Your Own App)"%}

Use this when you want full control over the Spotify app, its API access, and its quota. Recommended for enterprise customers and any case where you want your Ads API approval and rate limits managed by your own team.

Step 3.1. Go to developer.spotify.com/dashboard and click Create app.

Step 3.2. Fill in the form:

  • App name: any descriptive name, e.g. <Your Company> — Improvado Connector.
  • App description: e.g. Connector that pulls Spotify Ads campaign delivery and spend into Improvado.
  • Website: your company website (optional).
  • Which API/SDKs are you planning to use?: select Ads API.
  • Redirect URIs: add all three Improvado redirect URLs (one per Improvado cluster) so the connection works regardless of which cluster your workspace is on:
    • https://connections.eu.improvado.io/stat_provider_client/oauth_redirect/spotify_ads/
    • https://connections.us.improvado.io/stat_provider_client/oauth_redirect/spotify_ads/

Step 3.3. Click Save and copy the Client ID and Client Secret from your app overview page.

Step 3.4. Open adsmanager.spotify.com/api-terms and accept the Ads API Terms with the same Client ID. It can take up to one hour for the allowlist to propagate.

Step 3.5. Back in Improvado, select OAuth (Bring Your Own App) in the authentication dropdown, paste your Client ID and Client Secret, and click Authorize.

Step 3.6. You'll be redirected to Spotify. Sign in with the Spotify account that owns the Ad Account, and approve the connection.

Step 4. After completing the connection process, the Spotify Ads connection will appear in your Connected sources list.

Step 5. When the connection status is Active, and the account status column shows a number of accounts, you can move on to data extraction.

Step 6. To extract data from the connected sources, check the instructions on how to set up data extraction.
