How to find Site ID

Prerequisite: make sure you are signed in to your SharePoint site while doing this.

Step 1. Log into SharePoint and navigate to the site you want to connect to Improvado.

Step 2. Go to Home and copy the site URL.Example: ```https://companyname.sharepoint.com/sites/sitename/```

Step 3. Get the Site ID:

  • Add ```/_api/site/id``` to the copied URL.
  • Paste the updated URL into your browser and open it.

Step 4. Locate the Site ID in the response shown in your browser.

Step 5. Note down the Site ID — you will need it to configure Improvado.

How to grant Improvado access to selected Site

To grant Improvado access to the SharePoint site, you need to provide read permission for your site to the Improvado application. We recommend using the Microsoft Graph Explorer to grant Improvado access to your site.

Using the Microsoft Graph Explorer tool:

Step 1. Log into Microsoft Graph Explorer.

Step 2. Click your profile avatar, then select Consent to permissions > Consent for Sites.FullControl.All.

  • Please note, that this action grants Sites.FullControl.All permission to Microsoft Graph Explorer, not directly to the Improvado application.
  • Through this tool, you will then grant read permission on your site to the Improvado application.
  • You can revoke the permission for Microsoft Graph Explorer after the connection is created.

Step 3. Paste the following code into the Request Body:

{
  "roles": ["read"],
  "grantedToIdentities": [{
    "application": {
      "id": "3c5ce7cd-3dfb-4b21-a9b6-2526f53fe57f",
      "displayName": "Improvado for SharePoint"
    }
  }]
}

Step 4. Run the Microsoft Graph query, replacing ```{site_id}``` with the Site ID you obtained earlier.

  • This query grants permission on your site to the Improvado application with ID 3c5ce7cd-3dfb-4b21-a9b6-2526f53fe57f.

If the permission is successfully granted, the query returns response with code 201.
