SEMrush - Troubleshooting

Written by Ilya Sudakov

If a SEMrush extraction succeeds but returns nothing, the report type is usually scoped to something that is not configured on the SEMrush side.

A Position Tracking report returns no rows

The report types built on SEMrush Position Tracking — Tracking Position Organic, Tracking Visibility Organic and Organic Visibility By Campaign — are scoped to a SEMrush project and the tracking campaign inside it. If the project has no target domain configured on the SEMrush side, the extraction still succeeds — it simply returns zero rows. There is no error, because from the API’s point of view nothing went wrong: it was asked about a project that tracks nothing.

So an empty Position Tracking report is a configuration question before it is an extraction question. Open the project in SEMrush and confirm it has a target set up and is collecting positions. Once it is, re-run the extraction.
