Amazon Advertising - Troubleshooting

If Amazon Advertising figures in Improvado do not match the Amazon console, check what the column actually measures before treating it as an extraction problem.

Campaign budget does not match Amazon’s budget history

The Amazon Ads performance reports carry a Campaign Budget Amount column — Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Brands Video, Sponsored Display and Sponsored Television alike, at campaign, ad group, ad, keyword, targeting and search-term level — and it is a property of the campaign rather than a measurement of the reporting day. Amazon returns the budget as it stands when the report is generated, so every row of a historical extraction shows the current budget, not the budget that was in effect on that date.

Two consequences follow. Comparing those values against Amazon’s budget change history will not reconcile for any period in which the budget changed. And because the value is a campaign attribute, it repeats identically across every row the campaign produces — every targeting row, every keyword, every day — so summing or averaging it produces a number with no meaning.

If you need the budget as it actually changed over time, extract the Campaign History Entity report. It records campaign attribute changes with their timestamps, which is the source that does reconcile against the console. Use the performance report for delivery metrics and the history report for what the settings were.
