Microsoft Fabric
Note: Microsoft Fabric is currently supported only as a Destination. This guide doesn’t cover the DataPrep setup for Microsoft Fabric.
Improvado currently supports Microsoft Fabric authentication only through Microsoft Entra ID.
Description
Microsoft Fabric is a unified, cloud-powered analytics platform that streamlines data ingestion, integration, and analysis. It provides a secure environment to connect diverse data sources, build robust data pipelines, and drive actionable insights—all within a single, scalable workspace.
Setup guide
Follow our setup guide to connect Microsoft Fabric to Improvado.

- Go to the application registration portal (Applications > App registrations > New registration).
- Register a new application and create a Service Principal. Leave the Redirect URI field empty.

- Click Manage Access.
- Search for the newly created application and grant it the Contributor role.
Refer to the official App registration guide if necessary.
Complete configuration
In our workflow, Improvado uses Azure Blob Storage as an intermediate data destination. This requires you to have both Azure Blob Storage and Microsoft Fabric in place. Data is first loaded into Azure Blob and subsequently copied into Fabric. Everything is streamlined through the Microsoft Fabric page on our UI, meaning you don't need a separate connection for Azure Blob.
On the Microsoft Fabric connection page, fill in the following fields:
- Enter a name for your Destination connection in the Title.
- Enter the Account URL. (Azure Blob Storage related field)
- Enter the SAS Token. (Azure Blob Storage related field)
- Enter the Container Name. (Azure Blob Storage related field)
- Select the necessary Encryption type option from the dropdown. (Azure Blob Storage related field)
- (Customer-provided keys only) Enter the Encryption key. (Azure Blob Storage related field)
- Enter the Client ID.
- Enter the Client Secret.
- Enter the Tenant ID.
- Enter the SQL Endpoint.
- Enter the Data Warehouse Name.
- Specify the Schema of your database.
- Select the necessary Use binary strings option from the dropdown.
