New report type Spotify Organic Rolled out

Spotify Organic has been rebuilt. It now connects through your own Spotify developer app, and five new reports bring in the artists, albums and tracks the connected account follows or saves, daily playlist follower counts, and the tracks in its playlists.

What to do
Create an app in the Spotify Developer Dashboard under a Spotify account with an active Premium subscription, connect Spotify Organic with that app's Client ID and Client Secret, and add the new reports to an extraction. Connections made with the previous connector no longer work and cannot be reused.

We rebuilt the Spotify Organic connector. It now connects through a Spotify app that you create and own, and it adds five reports on the connected account's artists, albums, tracks and playlists. Spotify for Artists data - streams, listeners, saves and audience demographics - is not available: Spotify offers no public API for it.

New reports

The reports have no settings. Each one returns what the connected Spotify account follows, saves or owns, so to add an artist, album or playlist, follow or save it from that account in Spotify.

  • Artists Entity - the artists the account follows, with names, images and Spotify links.
  • Albums Entity - the albums saved in the account's library, with artists, release date, UPC, copyrights and cover images.
  • Tracks Entity - the account's Liked Songs, with ISRC, duration, artists and album.
  • Playlists Lifetime Incremental - one row per playlist and day for the playlists the account owns or follows: follower count, number of tracks and episodes, owner and visibility, so you can follow how a playlist's audience grows.
  • Playlist Items Entity - the tracks in the playlists the account owns or collaborates on, with when and by whom each was added, ISRC, artists and album.

How to connect

  • Sign in to the Spotify Developer Dashboard with a Spotify account that has an active Premium subscription. Spotify requires Premium on the account that owns the app.
  • Create an app and add Improvado's redirect URI for your region to it. The setup guide lists the URIs.
  • In Improvado, create a Spotify Organic connection with the app's Client ID and Client Secret, click Authorize, and sign in to Spotify with the account whose library and playlists you want to extract.
  • That account must own the app or be added under the app's User Management. A new Spotify app starts in Development Mode, which allows up to five accounts.

What happened to the previous connector

The previous Spotify Organic connector signed in through Improvado's own Spotify app and had one report, User Info. Its connections stopped working after a change Spotify made to its sign-in tokens in July 2026, and they cannot be revived, so create a new connection as described above. User Info is not carried over: since February 2026 Spotify no longer returns a profile's country or follower count, which left the report with only the account ID and name.

Things to know

  • Playlists Lifetime Incremental keeps the rows of earlier days. The history starts with the first run; earlier days are not backfilled.
  • Spotify limits what apps in Development Mode can read. It returns the tracks only of playlists the account owns or collaborates on, and it does not return playlists made by Spotify itself, such as its editorial and algorithmic playlists, even if the account follows them.
  • The entity reports keep the last row of an artist, album, track or playlist item after it is unfollowed or removed in Spotify.
