The Slack connector adds Channels, Channel Members, Private Channels, and User Groups reports, and can now act in Slack on request - posting a message or adding a reaction.

- No action required for existing reports. To use the new ones, add them to your Slack extraction. If a report returns a permissions error, reconnect the Slack connection with the Read Only or Read & Write permission set.
Until now the Slack connector extracted the workspace itself and its people. It now also covers the structure of the workspace - which channels exist, who is in them, and how members are grouped - and can write back into Slack.
New reports
- Channels - every public channel, with its name, topic, purpose, member count and archived state, plus Is Member: whether the Improvado app has been invited to the channel, which decides whether the Messages, Message Replies and Calls reports read it.
- Channel Members - one row per channel and member, so channel membership joins directly to the Channels and Users reports.
- Private Channels - the same fields as Channels, for the private channels the Improvado app has been invited to. A private channel the app is not a member of stays invisible to Improvado, which is how Slack is designed to work.
- User Groups - user groups with their handle, description, default channels, and member list.
Acting in Slack
The connector can now write to Slack as well as read from it. This is not a scheduled sync - it happens when you ask the Improvado agent to do something in chat, and the agent carries it out against your connected workspace:
- Post a message into a channel.
- Add an emoji reaction to an existing message.
These need the Read & Write permission set.
Permissions
A new Slack connection offers three permission sets: Read Only, the default, covers every report; Read & Write adds posting and reactions for the agent; and Custom lets you pick individual permissions. A connection keeps the permissions granted when it was created, so if a new report returns a permissions error, reconnect the Slack connection with Read Only or Read & Write.
Read Only now includes message content: messages and thread replies in the channels the app is invited to, direct and group direct messages that include the app, and file metadata. File contents are not downloaded. The Slack message reports entry covers these reports in detail.
The Improvado app requests only the permissions its reports and the agent actually use. It does not ask for Slack search, canvases, file uploads, or the ability to add itself to channels.
