New report type Google My Business Rolled out

Three new Google My Business (Google Business Profile) reports cover what your listings show, what Google has changed on them, and which searches surface each location, so you can track listing accuracy and search visibility alongside the rest of your marketing data.

What to do
No action required. Add any of the new reports to a Google My Business extraction to start receiving them; your existing Google My Business reports are unchanged and keep running as they are.

Improvado has added three reports to the Google My Business connector (Google Business Profile). They are additional report types: nothing is renamed, removed or migrated, and existing extractions keep their current behaviour.

Locations

One row per location on every run, with the full profile as you have set it:

  • address, phone numbers and website
  • primary and additional categories
  • regular hours and special (holiday) hours
  • open status and coordinates
  • labels and store code
  • the location's Google Maps and new-review links

Each run's rows are kept, so a daily history builds up. You can see when hours, a phone number or a category changed, and alert on it.

Google Updated Fields

Google, and the people who use Maps, can change a listing's details. When that happens, what customers see can differ from what you entered. This report lists those fields: one row for each field Google shows differently, with Google's value next to yours and a field_class column.

field_class separates two kinds of change:

  • Core fields customers act on: name, phone, hours, website, address, categories and open status.
  • Structural details such as chain relationships and service lists.

Data-governance rules can then fire on core changes only, for example a location you list as open that Google shows as closed.

Search Keywords

The search terms that showed each location in Google Search and Maps, with their impressions. Choose the Time Granularity when you set up the extraction: one row per location and keyword for each month (the default), quarter or year.

  • Low counts are hidden by Google. When a keyword had fewer than 15 impressions in the period, Google does not report the number. Those rows carry a threshold value, typically 15, in impressions_threshold, and impressions is left empty. Sum impressions only. A threshold is a ceiling, not a count.
  • A quarter or a year is a convenience, not extra detail. Its count for a keyword equals the sum of the monthly counts Google reported, and a keyword hidden in every month stays hidden for the quarter. Pick quarter or year when you want fewer rows, not more accuracy.
  • The current period is partial until it closes. Each run refreshes the current and the previous month, quarter or year.
  • History is limited to what Google provides, about 18 months. New extractions load the last 12 months by default at month granularity, the last 4 quarters at quarter granularity, and the current and previous year at year granularity.
  • Not every location has data. Locations you do not control on Google (not verified, or suspended) and locations with too few searches return no keywords.
