What to do
Available now. The Campaign Change History report appears in your Bing Ads extract templates - create an extract on it to start pulling change data. Nothing changes for your existing Bing Ads reports.

Bing Ads now has a change-history report, the Microsoft Advertising equivalent of the Google Ads Change History Entity report. It answers the question an audit starts from: who changed what, when, and from which value to which. Until now the Bing Ads connector had no way to reach this data - it is a separate reporting surface from the performance and entity reports, and was not offered.

What the report carries

  • The change itself. Date and time, the entity that changed, the specific attribute that changed, whether it was added, changed or deleted, and the old value and new value.
  • Who made it. The username behind the change, or Administrator when Microsoft's own systems made it.
  • Which tool was used. Web client, Microsoft Advertising Editor, the API, bulk upload, scripts, automated rules, imports or mobile apps - useful for separating human edits from automation.
  • Where it happened. Account, campaign, ad group, ad and keyword identifiers and names, so changes can be joined to your performance reports.

What is covered

Changes at the account, campaign, ad group, ad, keyword, ad extension and user levels. Budget and bid edits appear as campaign and keyword attribute changes - daily budget, shared budget, budget type, and the exact, phrase, broad and content match bids. Negative keywords, site exclusions, location and call extensions, sitelinks, negative keyword lists and day-parting are all included.

Three things to know before you build on it

  • Microsoft keeps six months of change history. History is capped at 180 days, and a backfill reaching further back returns nothing. If change history matters for your reporting, start extracting it now - the window is rolling, and what falls out of it cannot be recovered later. For comparison, the Google Ads change-history equivalent keeps only 30 days.
  • Performance Max asset groups, audience lists and bid strategies are not covered. Microsoft's change-history reporting has no entity for them, so edits at those levels are invisible in this report at any level of detail. If your audit is centred on Performance Max or bid-strategy changes, this report will not answer it.
  • Changed By is off by default. The field holds a username, so it is not selected automatically - select it when you need to attribute changes to a person. Every other field is on by default.

Changes take about an hour to become reportable on Microsoft's side, so the most recent edits may not appear in a given day's extraction until the following run.
