From the Creative Analysis Playbook: 5 of the 10 rules

Get the playbook. One email. Read all 10 rules
  1. Read groups of creatives. About 5% become winners (Motion, 6,015 Meta accounts, 2026).
  2. Cap live variants at weekly results ÷ 50. Meta: too many ads at once means fewer exit learning.
  3. Check fatigue every Monday. Median Meta creative life: 18 days (Interconnections, 368 ads, 2026).
  4. One creative, one id, every channel.
  5. No verdict before 7 days and about 80 clicks per variant.

Dated public counts

Four numbers frame the read

Every figure is a count taken from a public ad library on 1 October 2026. Library totals move between page loads, so each number is approximate and should be read as a band. None of them is a performance figure: the libraries publish no impressions, spend, or click data for US ads.

Launches by month, Meta US view

Nothing live predates 8 September, and 51 cards started on the capture morning

Start dates are the one time signal the library gives. For this brand they show a relaunch cadence: 51 of 81 loaded cards carry a start date of 1 October 2026 and an active time of about three hours, 30 carry September dates from five new-office sets, and no card is older than 23 days. Grouped by month, the chart is two bars.

Counts from Meta Ad Library start dates, US filter, captured 1 Oct 2026. The national set was relaunched the morning of the capture, so start dates measure the last refresh. No longevity read exists for this brand on Meta. Where a brand leaves winners on, a long-running ad says the advertiser kept it; it still does not say the ad performed.

The creative system

Hook groups, with the copy as evidence

A few messages carry most of the live ads

The 81 loaded cards grouped by the message that opens them. Each group prints two verbatim quotes from the library so the grouping can be checked, not taken on trust. The first count is cards; the second is the ads those cards represent once Meta's roll-up cards are expanded. A price word appears in 45 of the 81 cards.

Meta, LinkedIn, Google

Three libraries, three different jobs

The three libraries expose different fields, so they cannot be compared on one axis. Meta gives ads with start dates and placements; LinkedIn gives ads with payer names and, for EU delivery only, impression bands; Google gives advertiser entities with creative formats and first and last shown dates. For this brand they also carry three different jobs: patients, dentists, and the Search long tail.

  • Meta ~110 live ads, US delivery ~120 across all countries
  • LinkedIn ~276 live ads impression bands exist for EU delivery only

Meta's impressions sort, first 10 cards

Ordering only, no EU reach

Meta lets the library be sorted by impressions, but the figure behind the sort is EU delivery reach. Aspen Dental delivers no ads in the EU (the Germany view returns no ads, and none of the ~120 all-country results carries an EU transparency tag), so no row has a number. The order is still the one ranking the library offers: nine of the first ten are the September new-office sets, and the 1 October national relaunch sits below them.

Takeaways

For a performance team

What a performance team can take from it

Aspen Dental is the evidence, not the audience. Each read below is a pattern a team running its own paid-social account can hold against its own library view: the mix of hooks, the age of what is live, and where the clicks are sent.

Read 01

The national set is relaunched wholesale, so start dates measure the refresh, not the creative

51 of the 81 loaded cards show a start date of 1 October 2026 and an active time of about three hours; nothing on the brand page predates 8 September. The oldest live ad is 23 days old, so the 30, 60 and 90 day longevity shares are all zero. Read against your own library view: if your account restarts ad sets as a block, 'Started running on' tells you when the block was last pushed, and a 'still running after N days' read is not available. Longevity only speaks for accounts that leave winners on.

Read 02

Price is the hook in 45 of 81 cards, told as patient stories across two product lines

'Affordable', 'a price you can afford', 'savings', 'budget', 'transparent pricing', 'package pricing' or 'flexible payments' appears in the primary text or headline of 45 cards. The two largest groups are dentures (17 cards, 23 ads) and implants (13 cards, 18 ads), and most of them carry a named patient: Crista, Taylor, Robert, Mindy, Kim, Jose. The brand line 'Now's your time for dental care at an affordable price. Walk in today.' runs as its own group of 12 cards. No clear-aligner ad and no hiring ad is live on the brand page.

Read 03

Under Meta's own sort, the local 'now open' sets sit above the national set

Nine of the first ten cards in the impressions sort are the new-office sets launched 8 to 28 September for Merced CA, Selma NC, Whiteville NC, Missoula MT and Punta Gorda FL; the first is a creator video for Selma. 23 of 81 cards send the click to a local office page and 24 carry a local headline ('Now open in <city>', 'Ahora abierto en <city>' or a city greeting), 21 of them on national copy. For a brand that states 1100+ offices and is independently counted at 1,093 US locations, the local launch is a programme, not an exception: national copy, local headline, local landing page.

Read 04

Three libraries, three jobs: Meta sells to patients, LinkedIn hires dentists, Google carries the long tail

Every one of the 100 LinkedIn ads catalogued recruits clinicians: 37 endodontist, 31 oral surgeon, 30 generic specialist, with Recruitics, LLC as the payer on every Promoted ad opened. Google shows nine advertiser entities on aspendental.com, including Recruitics again; two Aspen Dental entities split cleanly into a video and image account (~4K) and a text account (~2K), and the text account's longest-running Search creatives have been shown since 22 May 2024. Reading one library tells you one job.

How teams running 50+ creatives handle it

Four practices from Improvado customers that run creative at volume. AND1 Tech is named in its published story; the other teams are described without their names.

AND1 Tech

Creative fatigue is caught on daily data

AND1 Tech runs multi-channel acquisition and creative testing at high volume for a sweepstakes casino brand. Checking whether a creative was fatiguing used to mean manual pulls in Excel and several handoffs. With one warehouse and daily dashboards in Improvado, the team spots creative fatigue early, acts on it without escalation, and has raised the cadence of creative and funnel iteration.

Read the AND1 Tech story
Agency, many brands

One set of tagging axes, a separate value list per brand

An agency that runs creative for brands in unrelated categories, from cosmetics to hospitality to financial products, tags every brand on the same skeleton of about 15 axes and writes a value list for each brand, since a cosmetics line and a resort cannot share one list of themes. Its creatives follow a naming convention, and reports show the visual next to the name, because clients forget what each name refers to.

Agency, consumer brands

A year-end review of 500 creatives became a standing library

An agency running Meta and Reddit ads for consumer brands reviewed about 500 creatives by hand at the end of a year. It now keeps a library of top performers tagged on eight axes (archetype, characters, setting, setting subtype, visual style, color palette, emotional tone, hook type), with a written definition for each value. The agency puts its time saving at about 40% on large creative reports and 20% on weekly ones.

Agency, health brand

Competitor ads tagged on the brand's own axes

An agency for a health brand tags a competitor's Meta Ad Library ads on the full set of 15 axes it uses for the brand's own creatives, so the two sets compare axis by axis. The library shows creative and run dates and no spend or results, so the competitor read covers what runs and since when; performance is read on the brand's own side.

08

Method

Public libraries, explicit limits

How the read was built, and what it cannot say

Evidence window 1 Oct 2026

Three public ad libraries read on one day: Meta Ad Library (brand page view, US filter and all countries), LinkedIn Ad Library, and Google Ads Transparency Center. Every count is as the library showed it that day.

Unit counted Cards and ads

On Meta a card is the unit read: 81 of ~110 results loaded, 17 of them roll-ups that stand for several ads, so the cards represent 107 ads. Hook groups count cards and print the ads behind them. On LinkedIn 100 of 276 ads were catalogued; on Google the unit is a creative.

Counts Approximate

Library totals move between page loads and the US filter depends on delivery flags advertisers set. Every count carries a tilde and should be read as a band, not a point.

Not available No performance

The libraries publish no impressions, spend, or CTR for US ads, and Google exposes no text-ad copy. Longevity is not readable for this brand because the national set was relaunched hours before the pull. Meta's reach data is EU only, and Aspen Dental has no EU delivery.
