YouTube - Troubleshooting
While configuring your YouTube connection, you may encounter several issues. Understanding these common errors can help streamline the setup process and facilitate quick resolutions.
General issues
Analytics API data may have a delay of up to 72 hours
A 72-hour delay is standard for YouTube analytics report types. Analytics views data based on Pacific Standard Time, updated once a day and has a delay of up to 72 hours. The numbers you see in Analytics reports might be different from the numbers you see on the video page, channel page, Video Manager, or other sources.
Here is the official confirmation from the YouTube team.
Discrepancy due to Data anonymization
Some YouTube Analytics API data is limited when metrics do not meet a certain threshold. In practice, it means that a report might not contain all (or any) of your data if:
- a video or channel has limited traffic during a specified time period;
- you have selected a filter or dimension, such as traffic source or country, for which values do not meet a certain threshold.

For some reports, it is possible to use similar predefined reports from the YouTube Reports API, which contains more stable data. The downside of the YouTube Reporting API is that it limits the period of available historical data. You can create a request in the Service Desk and we will check if there is a suitable report.
Report type issues
Error 500 during extraction
Error message:
“Error status code: 500. An internal error has occurred."
Solution:
The channel has a small number of subscribers. The error should be resolved as soon as a channel has more subscribers. You can read more about this error here.
Only the top 200 videos
The YouTube Analytics API only returns top 200 videos for the Top videos report type. Learn more about Top videos report type here.
Only the top 10 videos before January 1, 2013
Before January 1, 2013 data is only available for the top 10 videos because of API limitations.
The data in the "Top Videos" and "Top Videos Lifetime" report types does not match
The numbers in these two report types can differ for the request date range because the API returns only the top 200 videos (or the top 10 before January 1, 2013).
The Top Videos report type contains statistics on the channel's top 200 videos for each date extracted (because we extract each day separately).
The Top Videos Lifetime report type contains statistics on the channel's top 200 videos starting from 2000-01-01 to the extraction date.
