LinkedIn Organic - Troubleshooting
While configuring your LinkedIn Organic connection, you may encounter several issues. Understanding these common errors can help streamline the setup process and facilitate quick resolutions.
‘Engagements’ metric in Share reports
Despite the name, the metric “engagements” in Share Statistics, Share Lifetime, Share Lifetime Incremental reports shows an Engagement rate, which is defined as the “Number of organic clicks, likes, comments, and shares over impressions".
To get the number of engagements, you need to calculate it using any of the following formulas:
engagements * impressionsclicks+likes+comments+shares
Share Statistics shows fewer shares than the LinkedIn UI
The Share Statistics report may show fewer shares compared to what you see directly in the LinkedIn UI.
This is because the report uses the shareCount (API field for shares) to retrieve daily data.
- Limitation: Time-bound statistics don’t include instant reposts, which means these shares won’t appear in the daily numbers.
Solution: Use the Share Lifetime report when you need to account for instant reposts. Learn more here.
Why is Share Statistics report limited to a year of data?
Due to LinkedIn’s policies, only the last 12 months of share data can be accessed.
- Share Statistics uses a rolling 12-month window.
- Any shares older than 12 months are not available through this report. Learn more.
