Text Box Widget

Updated on

Apr 29, 2026

The Text Box widget adds free-form text to a dashboard — useful for titles, section headers, annotations, and explanatory notes. The use cases below show how to add and edit it.

Add and configure your text box

1. Add a Text Box widget to your dashboard

Place a text area anywhere on the dashboard canvas and set a title for it.

  1. Open your dashboard in edit mode.
  2. Click Text in the bottom toolbar. The widget appears on the canvas with the default heading Title and an Edit button.
  3. In the Properties Panel, expand the Basics section.
  4. Clear the Widget Title field and type your own heading (e.g. My Notes).
  5. Close the Properties Panel.

Result: The text box appears on the canvas with your heading visible.

2. Edit content and appearance

Write or update the text content and adjust background color, text color, and alignment.

  1. Click the Edit button on the text box widget.
  2. Type your content in the text area that appears (placeholder: Enter your text here…).
  3. Click Save to exit edit mode. The typed content becomes visible in the widget.
  4. To adjust styling, open the Basics section in the Properties Panel and use the background color selector, text color selector, and alignment control (Left, Center, Right).

Result: Content persists between edit sessions — re-entering edit mode shows the previously saved text.

Note: Ctrl+Enter saves and exits edit mode. Escape cancels edits and reverts to the last saved content.
