Setup guide

Follow our setup guide to connect Moloco Cloud to Improvado.

Click the Make a new Connection on the Connections page.
Categories on the Data sources page group all available platforms. Use a search to find the required one.

Click on the Moloco Cloud tile.

Authorize your Moloco Cloud account using Email, API Key and Workplace ID.

Generate the API key in the Moloco Ads Portal. Moloco Cloud does not accept an account password here: Improvado exchanges the key for a short-lived access token each time it runs, and the key itself stays valid until you revoke it in Moloco.

Note: Moloco calls this identifier the Workplace ID. Read it out of your Moloco Cloud Platform URL — it is the segment after /v2/p/, as in https://portal.moloco.cloud/v2/p/{workplace_id}/.

After completing the connection process, the Moloco Cloud connection will appear in your Connected sources list.

When the connection status is Active and the account status column shows a number of accounts, you can move on to data extraction.

Troubleshooting

Authentication fails with “Need to use an API key to issue the token”

The full error reads: Get credentials error for moloco_cloud, API returned an auth error: Need to use an API key to issue the token.

The connection is still on the retired login and password flow. Moloco Cloud issues an access token only in exchange for an API key, and Improvado moved the connector to that flow in June 2025. A connection created before the change holds a password where Moloco now expects a key, so token generation fails on the first request and every extraction order on that connection stops.

To fix it, generate an API key in the Moloco Ads Portal, then open the connection in your Connected sources list and re-connect it with Email, API Key and Workplace ID. See How to Configure Connected Sources for working with an existing connection.
