How to create a new Data Governance Rule

Discover how to effectively create Data Governance Rules using the AI Agent.

Improvado provides three methods to create Data Governance Rules using the Improvado AI Agent. Follow the instructions below for each method to ensure proper rule creation and management.

Method 1 (From scratch)

Let’s start with an example. This example will guide you through creating a rule that ensures the cost per click (CPC) for Facebook campaigns is less than $10.‍

Step 1. Open AI Agent and click the Rule button.

Step 2. Fill in all the blank fields in the no-code editor of this cell.

‍Step 3. (optional) Create validation.

Validation is a way how to get a high-level picture of your current compliance rate directly in the notebook.

To implement it:

Create a new Agent Prompt under the rule cell.

Copy and paste the text below to the Agent Prompt cell.

## Rule Validation

In this step, AI will show the count of rows that comply with the rule and the count of rows that don't, as a table.

Step 4. Save the rule as a VIEW.

Saving the rule as a VIEW is an important step to ensure the rule is active and appears on the dashboard.

Here’s why it’s important:

Saving the rule as VIEW allows it to be displayed on the Improvado dashboard. This ensures that all relevant stakeholders can see the rule and monitor its status and performance.
When a rule is saved as VIEW, notifications are activated. This means that any violations of the rule will trigger alerts, ensuring prompt action can be taken to address any issues.

To create a cell with a saving rule as a view — follow the steps below:

Create a new Agent Prompt.
Copy and paste the text below to the Agent Prompt cell.

## Saving or Updating the View for Marketing Data Governance rule

In this step, AI will create OR update (replace) the view for the Marketing Data Governance business rule based on cell 1 query.

If the result displays: View was successfully created — congratulations! You just created your first Data Governance Rule!

Method 2 (From the Rule Library)

Improvado has a lot of pre-built rules in the Rules Library that you can apply and use.

To get started with the Improvado rules library, follow these steps:

‍Step 1. Open Cerebro Dashboard and navigate the Rules Library section.

Step 2. Choose the rule that you want to create and click Create New Rule.

Step 3. A new rule will be created with pre-filled fields as well as 2 additional cells with rule validation and saving the rule as a view.

‍Step 4. Simply adjust the rule (add table and platform), save changes (Save button, not Submit), and click Run All to run all 3 cells.

Congratulation! You just created your second Data Governance Rule!

Method 3 (Ask the AI Agent to create a rule for you)

The last way to create a new rule is to ask the AI Agent to create a rule for you based on 1 sentence description. And AI Agent will automatically fill all the required fields in the Marketing Data Governance cell.

Let’s see how it works in action. This example will guide you through creating a rule that ensures the cost per click (CTR) for Google campaigns is more than 10%.‍

Step 1. Open AI Agent and write a prompt: Create a new rule with a description: CTR for Google campaigns is more than 10%.

Step 2. Adjust the rule if necessary. AI Agent sometimes can make mistakes, but it does most of the work for you, you just need to make simple adjustments.
