AI Notebook Sharing Feature

Discover how you can collaborate efficiently by utilizing the sharing feature in our AI Notebook. Share your notebooks globally within your workspace or with specific users, controlling access with edit, read-only, or restricted permissions - just like in Google Docs.

How to Share Notebooks Using the Sharing Feature?

The sharing feature provides a flexible way to control access to your notebooks, allowing both global and individual user permissions.

Global Access Permissions

By default, notebooks are set to Restricted, meaning only you can access them. You can change the global access settings to:

  • Edit: Allow everyone in your workspace to view and edit the notebook.
  • Read: Allow everyone in your workspace to view the notebook but not make changes.
  • Restricted: Only you (and specific users you grant access to) can access the notebook.

To change the global access permissions:

  1. Open the notebook you wish to share.
  2. Click on the Share button located at the top-right corner.
  3. Adjust the global access setting in the sharing dialogue by selecting Edit, Read, or Restricted from the dropdown menu.

Sharing with Specific Users

In addition to global access settings, you can grant permissions to specific users in your workspace. This is useful when you want to collaborate with certain individuals without changing everyone's access level.

To share with specific users:

  1. In the Sharing dialogue box, in the Select Users area, select the users with whom you want to share the laptop.
  2. For each user, select the desired permission level:
  3. ~Edit: The user can view and make changes to the notebook.
  4. ~Read: The user can view the notebook but cannot make changes.
  5. Click Invite to notify the users of the shared notebook.

Managing Permissions

At any time, you can adjust or revoke permissions for both global access and individual users.

To manage permissions:

  1. Open the sharing dialogue from the notebook.
  2. Under Who has access, you can:
  3. ~Change the permission level for any user by selecting a different option from the dropdown next to their name.
  4. ~Remove a user by clicking the Remove icon next to their name.
  5. Adjust the global access setting as needed.

Conclusion

The notebook-sharing feature is designed to make collaboration straightforward and secure. By controlling both global and individual access permissions, you can ensure that your notebooks are accessible to the right people with the appropriate level of access.
