Lineage UI

The Lineage feature in Improvado provides a visual map of your data’s journey, illustrating relationships, dependencies, and transformations across your pipeline. This tool empowers you to:

  • Track how data flows from source to destination.
  • Identify errors in real-time.
  • Gain clarity on data tables dependencies and relationships.

Ideal for auditing, troubleshooting, or optimizing pipelines, Lineage ensures full transparency in your data ecosystem.

How to Use It?

Access Lineage UI via Data tables

  1. Open the Data Explorer in the left-hand menu.
  2. Select the desired data table from the list.

  1. Navigate to the Lineage tab.

When you open the Lineage for a specific data table, you'll see the complete pipeline connected to that table. This includes all dependencies, so you get the full picture at a glance. You can select any element in the visualization to view detailed information about it in the details panel on the right side of the screen.

Note

  • Newly created objects may experience a delay before appearing in Lineage UI.
  • Lineage UI is currently available only for data tables.

Access Lineage UI via AI Recipes

  1. Navigate to the My Recipes page.
  2. Select the desired recipe from the list.
  3. Click the three-dot button in the upper right corner of the screen.
  4. In menu select View lineage (beta).

  1. In the opened panel you can click the Open full lineage view button to open Lineage to the full page.

Use case

Visibility of data tables dependencies and monitoring of pipeline statuses

Steps:

  1. Navigate to the Data Explorer page and open the required data table.
  2. Click the Lineage tab to visualize the data flow and dependencies for that table.
  3. Trace backward through the lineage diagram to check for any errors.

Why this works: Lineage UI reduces investigation time by visually highlighting dependencies, allowing you to isolate errors faster.
